• We ate pirate’s booty and apples.
• We had language group with Ms. Lauren.

• We made rhinoceros paintings.  We sponge painted using a stencil.

• We read Elmer.
• We ate melon and leftover bananas.
• We had social skills group with Ms. Julia.
• We moved on the playground.
• We made porcupines.  We used forks dipped in paint to make the quills on the porcupine.    

1.23.2012

• We read Oh Where, Oh Where? (our new poem from the math unit).
• We ate bananas and yogurt covered raisins.
• We wrote during Writer’s Workshop.
• We moved during music class.
• We couldn’t go outside (too snowy on our playground).  Instead, we had an extra playtime.  Kids worked hard on compromising with their assigned partner about where they wanted to play together.

• We couldn’t go outside (too cold).  Instead, we watched Chrysanthemum, a story with many connections to A Porcupine Named Fluffy.

• We made friendship bracelets.  Students were paired up and each child made a bracelet for their partner.  Modeling was done to encourage them to consider their friend’s preference for colors.

• We read Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon, a book about self-esteem and being different.  It relates to the theme in A Porcupine Named Fluffy
• We ate veggie sticks.
• We made porcupines using clay (that we made), googly eyes, and tooth picks.
• We moved on the playground.
• We had language group with Ms. Lauren.
